Systemic effects of RLT
One of the downsides of RLT, one might think, is that you need a massive set of panels to shine the light on the entirety of your body. Otherwise, you would have to move the device around and do multiple sessions, just to treat the whole body ‘once’.
Furthermore, skeptics typically ask: ‘Can the light even penetrate into the deeper tissues of the body?’ The fat, muscle, bone and brain tissue? It is, after all, just light.
One of the amazing things about RLT, is the fact that the benefits of the light circulate throughout the body, even to the parts of it that aren’t directly ‘touched’ by the light.
For example, while the light isn’t powerful enough to penetrate the very thick human skull effectively (some of the light photons penetrate it, but it is a small fraction), it still has powerful scientifically demonstrated benefits for the brain. And while studies have been conducted on skin improvements, wherein only half the face was treated by RLT, the skin on both sides of the face in fact improved (more so, for the directly treated part though).
Such examples demonstrate the power of the ‘systemic’ effects of RLT and reassures us: Even though you might only have a small panel that primarily treats your face and upper-body for 10 minutes every morning, you will still see a plethora of the benefits extend to the rest of your body.
Of course, the benefits will be better, if you actually treat the whole body directly, but unless you have unlimited means and want to buy a RLT-solarium/-bed, which usually run you about 85.000€ (637.000 DKK) for the best-in-class models, do not worry too much whether your initial set-up is inefficient – getting an effective dose of light anywhere on the body, benefits the entirety of your physical-mental system.
